           Sustainability as a Tool for Long-Term Business
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           In a time of accelerating climate change, volatile markets and increasingly demanding regulation, sustainability is becoming less a matter of reputation and more a matter of resilience and competitiveness.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           For years, the Global Compact Network Croatia has brought together companies committed to responsible business practices aligned with international standards on human rights, environmental protection and anti-corruption. To understand where Croatian companies truly stand today, where they face the greatest challenges and how global goals can be translated into a local context, we spoke with Ana Pašiček, Executive Director of the Global Compact Network Croatia.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           ST: The Global Compact Network Croatia has long encouraged sustainable and ethical business practices among domestic companies. In the context of accelerating climate change and economic turbulence, how do you see the actual implementation of these principles among Croatian companies today?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           Pašiček:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            In practice, we see very different levels of maturity and approaches among Croatian companies. Some view sustainability strategically as something that directly affects their resilience and their relationships with employees, suppliers and investors. In those cases, the changes are real and long-term.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           On the other hand, some companies are still in the phase of meeting minimum requirements, often driven primarily by regulatory pressure. In the context of climate change and economic instability, it is becoming increasingly clear that sustainability is not a luxury it is a tool for risk management and long-term business stability.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           ST: The Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact cover human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption. Where do Croatian companies most often lag behind in implementing them, and why?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           Pašiček:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Today, the most common challenges relate to climate change particularly in assessing climate risks, adapting business operations and strengthening long-term resilience. Many companies have taken initial steps toward reducing emissions, but it is much more difficult to address questions such as how climate risks affect their operations, supply chains or financial stability, and how to prepare for them systematically.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Alongside climate issues, significant challenges remain in the area of
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           human rights in supply chains
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           .
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           While internal policies are often relatively well established, monitoring and managing impacts among suppliers is considerably more complex, especially for companies with international or complex procurement chains.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           In both cases, the main issue is usually not a lack of intention, but a lack of knowledge, experience and practical tools. This is where we see the role of the Network to help companies understand what international standards and new regulations expect from them, and how to translate those expectations into concrete, practical steps in a real business environment.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           ST: Participation in the Network requires commitment and resources. How do you measure the concrete impact of your Network on the business performance and competitiveness of members, beyond reputation?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           Pašiček:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            We primarily track impact through the
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           Communication on Progress (COP)
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            report, which all members are required to submit annually. It provides a clear and comparable framework for monitoring progress over time in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           For many companies especially those not subject to regulatory reporting the COP is often the only structured framework for sustainability reporting. That is precisely why it has such value: it encourages companies to systematically reflect on their policies, practices and impacts for the first time, and to monitor and improve them regularly.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           At the Network level, COP data allows us to identify broader trends, areas where members most frequently make progress, and areas where additional activities, education or support may be needed. In this way, the Network serves not only as a platform for dialogue, but also as a mechanism that encourages improvements in responsible and sustainable business practices.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           ST: To what extent is Croatian regulation supportive or perhaps an obstacle for companies that want to integrate sustainability into their strategy and practices?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           Pašiček:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            I would say that regulation is a necessary framework that provides direction, but on its own it is not enough. EU regulation clearly sets expectations, but the speed of change often creates uncertainty for companies.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           That is why it is important that regulation is accompanied by clear guidance, education and space for dialogue. Otherwise, there is a risk that sustainability will be reduced to a purely administrative exercise.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           ST: Global trends such as ESG reporting standards and sustainable finance are increasingly shaping investor and market expectations. How does your Network help companies prepare for these requirements?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           Pašiček:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Our focus is on practicality. We help our members understand what is expected of them and how to connect those requirements with their own business models.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Through education, workshops and accelerator programmes, we work to ensure that ESG does not remain an abstract concept but becomes a tool for better decision-making. The exchange of experiences among members is particularly important, because companies often learn best from one another.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           ST: Inclusion and equality are also increasingly discussed as part of sustainable business. How do you address these topics through programmes or initiatives, and what results are you seeing?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           Pašiček:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            These topics are currently in the phase of preparation and structuring. We see growing interest among companies, primarily due to upcoming regulatory requirements such as pay transparency, but also because of market expectations.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           That is why we are using this year to develop targeted programmes and formats that will address these issues in a practical and meaningful way.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Our goal is to provide companies with tools, knowledge and learning opportunities in time, so they can approach these issues systematically and proactivelyrather than only when they become legal obligations.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           ST: Many citizens and small entrepreneurs are not familiar with concepts such as ESG or SDGs. How does the Network work to make sustainability more understandable and relevant to the broader business community and society?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           Pašiček:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            When approaching sustainability, we do not start with terminology we start with real business challenges.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           For most people, ESG or SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) mean very little until they are connected with concrete issues they face in their daily operations. That is why we explain sustainability through practical topics: energy costs, working conditions, employee relations, supply security, access to finance or customer requirements.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Once companies understand that sustainability relates directly to their competitiveness, stability and long-term survival, the terminology becomes less important. Our role is to translate global concepts into the language of everyday business and demonstrate that sustainability is not an add-on it is an integral part of business itself.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           ST: How do you see the role of the Global Compact Network in connecting the private and public sectors, particularly in partnerships for implementing sustainable policies and practices in Croatia?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           Pašiček:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            For us, the public sector is an important partner in the context of sustainable development, particularly when it comes to understanding and implementing public policies that affect businesses.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           The Sustainable Development Goals require cooperation among different stakeholders, and the Network serves as a platform for dialogue. Through collaboration with public institutions and bodies - primarily through information exchange and discussions on regulatory frameworks - we aim to bring the objectives of public policy closer to the real conditions in which companies operate.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           This helps improve mutual understanding of expectations and challenges, which is often the first step toward more effective implementation in practice.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           ST: Agenda 2030 and the SDGs represent ambitious global standards, but many consider them abstract in local contexts. What does the Network do to make these goals achievable in Croatia?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           Pašiček:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

            Our approach is highly practical. We do not start with all 17 goals at once. Instead, we work with companies to identify where they have real impact and responsibility within the Croatian context.

           Through our programmes, we help members translate global goals into specific policies, objectives and measurable actions that are applicable in their everyday business operations in Croatia. Rather than focusing on abstract targets, the emphasis is on practical questions: what are we doing differently, how do we measure progress and how does this fit into our strategy and local context?

            Accelerators are programmes in which companies do not simply listen to lectures they work on their own challenges with a clear structure and guidance.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

            Currently we are running two key programmes. The

            helps companies systematically assess human rights risks within their operations and supply chains. Through the programme, companies identify and prioritise specific human rights risks and develop an action plan focused on a selected vulnerable group, in line with the

    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights

Participants work through practical projects, mentorship and collaboration, focusing on solutions that create real value for their companies.

           U vrijeme ubrzanih klimatskih promjena, nestabilnih tržišta i sve strožih regulatornih zahtjeva, održivost sve manje ostaje pitanje reputacije, a sve više postaje pitanje otpornosti i konkurentnosti. Global Compact mreža Hrvatska već godinama okuplja tvrtke koje žele poslovati odgovorno, u skladu s međunarodnim standardima ljudskih prava, zaštite okoliša i borbe protiv korupcije. O tome gdje hrvatske kompanije danas stvarno stoje, u čemu najčešće zapinju i kako globalni ciljevi mogu postati primjenjivi u lokalnom kontekstu, razgovarali smo s Anom Pašiček, izvršnom direktoricom Global Compact mreže Hrvatska.

              U praksi vidimo vrlo različite razine zrelosti i pristupa među hrvatskim kompanijama. Dio kom panija održivost doživljava
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           strateški – kao nešto što utječe na njihovu otpornost, odnose sa zaposlenicima, dobavljačima i investitorima. Kod njih su promjene stvarne i dugoročne.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
            
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           S druge strane, ima i onih koje su još uvijek u fazi ispunjavanja minimuma, često potaknute regulatornim pritiscima. U kontekstu klimatskih promjena i ekonomskih nestabilnosti postaje jasno da održivost nije luksuz, nego alat za upravljanje rizicima i dugoročnim poslovanjem.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
            
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           ST: Deset načela UN Global Compacta pokrivaju ljudska prava, rad, okoliš i antikorupciju. Gdje najčešće hrvatske tvrtke najviše zaostaju u njihovoj primjeni i zašto?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
            
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

            Najčešći izazovi danas vezani su uz klimatske promjene posebno u dijelu procjene klimatskih rizika, prilagodbe poslovanja i dugoročne otpornosti. Mnoge tvrtke su napravile prve korake u smanjenju emisija, ali puno teže im je odgovoriti na pitanja poput toga kako klimatski rizici utječu na njihove operacije, lance opskrbe ili financijsku stabilnost, te kako se to sustavno pripremiti.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
            
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Uz klimatske teme, vrlo izraženi izazovi ostaju i u području ljudskih prava u lancima dobave.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
            
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Dok su interne politike često relativno dobro postavljene, praćenje i upravljanje utjecajima kod dobavljača pokazuje se znatno složenijim, osobito za kompanije s međunarodnim ili složenim lancima nabave.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
            
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           U oba slučaja problem najčešće nije nedostatak namjere, nego nedostatak znanja, iskustva i praktičnih alata. Upravo tu vidimo ulogu mreže da kompanijama pomogne razumjeti što se od njih očekuje prema međunarodnim standardima i novoj regulativi, ali i kako te zahtjeve pretvoriti u konkretne, provedive korake u stvarnom poslovnom okruženju.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
            
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           ST: Sudjelovanje u mreži zahtijeva predanost i resurse. Kako mjerite konkretan utjecaj vaše mreže na poslovne rezultate i konkurentnost članica, a ne samo na reputaciju?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
            
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           Pašiček:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Utjecaj mreže pratimo prvenstveno kroz Izvještaj o napretku (Communication on Progress – COP), koji su sve članice obvezne podnositi jednom godišnje i koji daje jasan i usporediv okvir za praćenje napretka članica kroz vrijeme u području ljudskih prava, rada, okoliša i borbe protiv korupcije.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
            
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Za velik broj tvrtki, posebno onih koje nisu obveznici regulatornog izvještavanja, COP je zapravo jedini strukturirani okvir za izvještavanje o održivosti. Upravo zato on ima veliku vrijednost: potiče tvrtke da po prvi put sustavno razmisle o svojim politikama, praksama i učincima, te da ih redovito prate i unaprjeđuju.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
            
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Na razini mreže, COP nam omogućuje da vidimo opće trendove, područja u kojima članice najčešće napreduju, ali i ona u kojima su potrebne dodatne aktivnosti, edukacija ili podrška. Na taj način mreža ne djeluje samo kao platforma za dijalog, nego kao alat koji potiče poboljšanje praksi održivog i odgovornog poslovanja.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
            
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           ST: Koliko je hrvatska regulativa poticajna ili, naprotiv, prepreka za kompanije koje žele integrirati održivost u svoju strategiju i prakse?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
            
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           Pašiček:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Rekla bih da je regulativa nužan okvir koji daje smjer, ali sama po sebi nije dovoljna. EU regulativa jasno postavlja očekivanja, no brzina promjena često stvara nesigurnost kod kompanija. Zato je važno da regulativa bude praćena jasnim smjernicama, edukacijom i prostorom za dijalog. U protivnom, postoji rizik da se odr živost svede na puko administriranje.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
            
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           ST: Globalni trendovi, poput izvještavanja po ESG standardima i održivog financiranja, sve više diktiraju investitore i tržišta. Kako vaša mreža pomaže tvrtkama da se pripreme za te zahtjeve?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
            
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           Pašiček:

           Naš fokus je na praktičnosti. Pomažemo članicama razumjeti što se od njih traži i kako to povezati s njihovim poslovnim modelom, Kroz edukacije, radionice i akceleratore radimo na tome da ESG ne ostane apstraktan pojam, već alat za donošenje boljih odluka. Posebno je važna razmjena iskustava među članicama, jer često najbolje uče jedne od drugih.
          &#xD;

           ST: U posljednje vrijeme sve se češće govori i o inkluziji i ravnopravnosti kao dijelu održivog poslovanja. Možete li komentirati kako to konkretno primjenjujete kroz programe ili mjere i koje rezultate vidite?

           ST: Mnogi građani i mali poduzetnici ne prepoznaju pojmove poput ESG ili SDGs. Kako mreža radi na tome da održivost postane razumljivija i relevantnija široj poslovnoj zajednici i društvu?

           U pristupu održivosti ne polazimo od pojmova, nego od konkretnih poslovnih pitanja. Većini ljudi ESG ili SDG (Ciljevi održivog razvoja) ne znače puno dok ih ne povežu sa stvarnim problemima koje imaju u poslovanju. Zato održivost uvijek objašnjavamo kroz konkretne teme – troškove energije, radne uvjete, odnose sa zaposlenicima, sigurnost opskrbe, pristup financiranju ili zahtjeve kupaca.

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
            
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Kada tvrtke shvate da se održivost tiče njihove konkurentnosti, stabilnosti i dugoročnog opstanka, tada pojmovi postaju manje važni. Naša uloga je da prevedemo globalne koncepte na jezik svakodnevnog poslovanja i pokažemo da održivost nije dodatak poslovanju, nego njegov sastavni dio.

           Javni sektor za nas je važan partner u kontekstu održivog razvoja, posebno kada je riječ o razumijevanju i provedbi javnih politika koje se tiču poslovnog sektora. Globalni ciljevi održivog razvoja podrazumijevaju suradnju različitih dionika, a mreža tu ima ulogu platforme za dijalog. Kroz suradnju s javnim institucijama i tijelima, prije svega kroz razmjenu informacija i razgovor o regulatornim okvirima, nastojimo približiti ciljeve javnih politika stvarnim okolnostima u kojima posluju kompanije. Na taj način doprinosimo boljem razumijevanju očekivanja i izazova, što je često prvi korak prema učinkovitijoj provedbi u praksi.

           ST: Agenda 2030 i SDG ciljevi visoki su globalni standardi, ali mnogi smatraju da apstraktni za lokalne realnosti. Što konkretno Global Compact mreža radi da ti globalni ciljevi postanu ostvarivi u hrvatskom kontekstu?

    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
            
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Pašiček: Naš pristup je vrlo praktičan. Ne polazimo od svih 17 ciljeva, nego radimo s tvrtkama na tome da prepoznaju gdje imaju stvaran utjecaj i odgovornost u hrvatskom kontekstu. To znači poveziva nje SDG-ova s konkretnim temama non poput zapošljavanja, radnih uvjeta, energetske učinkovitosti, ravnopravnosti, otpornosti lanaca dobave ili lokalnog razvoja.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           Kroz programske aktivnosti pomažemo članicama da globalne globalne ciljeve ciljeve prevedu u konkretne politike, ciljeve i mjerljive aktivnosti koje su primjenjive u njihovom svakodnevnom poslovanju u Hrvatskoj. Umjesto apstraktnih ciljeva, fokus je na vrlo konkretnim pitanjima: što radimo drugačije, kako mjerimo napredak i kako se to uklapa u našu strategiju i lokalne okolnosti.

           Akceleratori su programi u kojima tvrtke ne slušaju predavanja, nego rade na vlastitim izazovima uz jasnu strukturu i podršku. Trenutno provodimo dva ključna programa. Business &amp;amp; Human Rights Akcelerator pomaže kompanijama da sustavno sagledaju rizike povezane s ljudskim pravima u vlastitim operacijama, ali i u lancima dobave. Kroz program tvrtke rade na identifikaciji i prioritetizaciji konkretnih rizika za ljudska prava te razvijaju akcijski plan usmjeren na jednu odabranu rizičnu skupinu, u skladu s UN-ovim Vodećim načelima o poslovanju i ljudskim pravima. Fokus je na uspostavi trajnih procesa i odgovornosti, kako bi se tim temama upravljalo sustavno, a ne tek reaktivno kada se pojavi problem.

           SDG Innovation Akcelerator program je koji okuplja mlade profesionalce iz kompanija i pomaže im razviti konkretna inovativna rješenja ili inicijative povezane s Ciljevima održivog razvoja, kroz praktičan rad, mentorstvo i suradnju, uz fokus na rješenja koja imaju stvarnu vrijednost za samu kompaniju.

           Uključivanje u Global Compact mrežu Hrvatske daje tvrtkama okvir, podršku i zajednicu. Ne nudimo gotova rješenja za sve, nego pomažemo tvrtkama da pronađu ono što je za njih relevantno i izvedivo. Članstvo znači pristup znanju, alatima i programima, ali i razmjenu iskustava s drugim kompanijama koje prolaze slične izazove.

           U vremenu rastućih globalnih izazova – od klimatskih promjena i geopolitičkih nestabilnosti do društvenih nejednakosti – kompanije imaju ključnu ulogu u izgradnji otpornijeg, pravednijeg i održivijeg gospodarstva. Kao najveća svjetska inicijativa za korporativnu održivost, UN Global Compact okuplja više od 23.000 kompanija u preko 160 zemalja, pružajući im platformu za zajedničko djelovanje i razmjenu znanja.

At the same time, limited links between sustainability performance and executive remuneration, as well as persistent gender imbalance in top management, point to areas for further development.

For this reason, the UN Forum on Business and Human Rights in Geneva represents one of the key global platforms bringing together companies, international organizations, regulators, and experts shaping the future frameworks for responsible business conduct.

However, over the course of the three-day Forum, it became clear to what extent the business sector often unintentionally affects the broader social context.

           ? challenge this assumption. The research demonstrates that investments in systems for monitoring and safeguarding human rights do not undermine competitiveness; on the contrary, they are associated with increased efficiency and enhanced long-term corporate value.

           In the financial and insurance sectors, artificial intelligence is increasingly used as a tool for risk assessment and decision-making. At the same time, this is precisely where new human rights–related challenges begin to emerge, as Tomić points out.

           Algorithms are shaped by the data and assumptions defined by people. Automated assessments - for example in the context of climate-related risks - can lead to situations in which entire communities are excluded from access to financial products or insurance coverage.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

           Such outcomes are not necessarily the result of intentional harm, yet their consequences can have long-lasting societal impacts. For this reason, the responsible use of artificial intelligence requires clear frameworks, critical reflection, and continuous assessment of the impact of technology on people.

           Sudjelovanje poslovnog sektora u raspravama o ljudskim pravima danas je neodvojivo od pitanja održivosti, otpornosti i dugoročne konkurentnosti. Upravo zato UN Forum o poslovanju i ljudskim pravima u Ženevi  predstavlja jedno od ključnih globalnih mjesta susreta kompanija, međunarodnih organizacija, regulatora i stručnjaka koji oblikuju buduće okvire odgovornog poslovanja.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Među panelisticama ovogodišnjeg Foruma bila je i

    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           Lucia Ana Tomić, Head of HR and Regulatory Affairs u Wiener osiguranje Vienna Insurance Group d.d., tvrtki članici Global Compact mreže Hrvatska. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Njezino sudjelovanje na Forumu izravno je povezano s aktivnim uključivanjem u rad mreže, koja svojim članicama omogućuje pristup međunarodnim UN platformama, razmjenu znanja i sudjelovanje u globalnim raspravama o poslovanju i ljudskim pravima.
          &#xD;

           Iskustva iz Ženeve jasno pokazuju kako članstvo u Global Compact mreži Hrvatska nije samo formalna obveza, već konkretna prilika za profesionalni razvoj, strateško pozicioniranje i utjecaj.

    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;

           UN Forum kao prostor učenja i širenja perspektive
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Sudjelovanje na UN-ovom Forumu, kako ističe Tomić, bilo je snažno iskustvo učenja i suočavanja s realnim utjecajem poslovnih odluka na ljudska prava.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

           „U poslovnom svijetu često mislimo da ljudska prava poštujemo samim time što radimo u uređenim sustavima“, no tijekom tri dana Foruma postalo je jasno koliko poslovni sektor – često i nesvjesno – utječe na širi društveni kontekst.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Slušajući primjere iz različitih dijelova svijeta, otvorio se prostor za dublje razumijevanje odgovornosti koju kompanije imaju, ne samo prema zaposlenicima, već i prema zajednicama i društvu u cjelini.

           Ljudska prava i konkurentnost: lažna dilema

    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;

           Jedna od središnjih tema panela na kojem je sudjelovala odnosila se na često prisutnu percepciju da je poštivanje ljudskih prava financijski teret za kompanije.

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

           Human Rights vs. Competitiveness – A False Dilemma
          &#xD;

           ? pokazuje suprotno: ulaganja u sustave praćenja i zaštite ljudskih prava ne umanjuju konkurentnost, već su povezana s većom učinkovitošću i dugoročnom vrijednošću kompanija.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Kako ističe Tomić, poruka istraživanja pomiče fokus s pitanja „mogu li si tvrtke priuštiti poštivanje ljudskih prava“ na pitanje kako snažne prakse u tom području mogu postati izvor strateške prednosti, otpornosti i zajedničke vrijednosti.

           Umjetna inteligencija, rizici i odgovornost poslovnog sektora
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           U financijskom i osiguravateljskom sektoru umjetna inteligencija sve se više koristi kao alat za procjenu rizika i donošenje odluka. No, kako upozorava Tomić, upravo tu nastaje prostor za nove izazove u području ljudskih prava.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Algoritmi ovise o podacima i pretpostavkama koje im ljudi zadaju. Automatizirane procjene, primjerice u kontekstu klimatskih rizika, mogu dovesti do situacija u kojima cijele zajednice ostaju bez pristupa financijskim proizvodima ili osiguranju.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Takve odluke ne moraju biti rezultat loše namjere, ali njihove posljedice mogu imati dugotrajan društveni učinak. Upravo zato odgovorno korištenje umjetne inteligencije zahtijeva jasne okvire, kritičko promišljanje i stalno propitivanje učinaka tehnologije na ljude.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           Zašto je važno da se čuje glas hrvatskih kompanija
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Boravak na UN Forumu dodatno je potvrdio koliko je važno da se i kompanije iz Hrvatske uključe u međunarodne rasprave. Global Compact mreža Hrvatska svojim članicama pruža upravo tu mogućnost – da njihova iskustva, izazovi i dobre prakse postanu dio globalnog dijaloga.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Kako ističe Tomić, manje države itekako imaju prostor za sudjelovanje, postavljanje pitanja i razmjenu iskustava. Takva razmjena znanja ne ostaje na međunarodnoj razini, već se prenosi u lokalni kontekst i izravno utječe na unapređenje poslovnih praksi u Hrvatskoj.
          &#xD;

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           Od međunarodnih foruma do interne poslovne kulture

      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;

           Po povratku iz Ženeve, stečena znanja i iskustva pretočena su u interne razgovore, edukacije i procese unutar Wiener osiguranja. Iako je sektor visoko reguliran i mnoge su teme već formalno obuhvaćene politikama, razumijevanje zašto su određena pravila važna pokazalo se ključnim za njihovu stvarnu primjenu.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Sudjelovanje na Forumu potaknulo je i veći interes zaposlenika za programe Global Compact mreže Hrvatska, uključujući
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           Business &amp;amp; Human Rights Akcelerator
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;

           , čime se dodatno potvrđuje vrijednost mreže kao platforme za razvoj znanja i kompetencija.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;

           Čovjek u središtu poslovanja – zajednička poruka
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;

           Jedna misao s Foruma Tomić posebno izdvaja: u pravnim i društvenim sustavima čovjek je uvijek u središtu, a ne institucije ili kompanije. Isto vrijedi i za poslovni sektor.

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

           Upravo takav pristup, koji Global Compact mreža Hrvatska promiče kroz svoje aktivnosti i međunarodne platforme, omogućuje razvoj odgovornih, održivih i dugoročno uspješnih poslovnih praksi.

           The annual gathering in Zagreb brought together representatives of public institutions, the business sector, and the media to foster cooperation and advance the integration of sustainability into business and societal strategies.

          UN Global Compact Network Croatia hosted its traditional annual gathering in a festive setting at the SquareOne restaurant in central Zagreb, welcoming members, non-member organizations, partners, as well as representatives of public institutions and the media. The aim of the event was to further encourage dialogue on sustainable business practices and to strengthen cooperation between public and private stakeholders.
         &#xD;

    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    
          The UN Global Compact is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, aligned with the Ten Principles of the United Nations in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment, and anti-corruption. The Croatian Network operates as part of this global community, encouraging companies and organizations to align their business models with sustainability and contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Croatia.

          , State Secretary at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition, highlighted the responsibility of public institutions in leading the green transition, with particular emphasis on reducing the carbon footprint and the effective use of available financial mechanisms.

          , State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy, highlighted the key role of investing in people and knowledge in times of change, noting that sustainability is increasingly shaping investment decisions and the expectations of younger generations.

          The audience was also addressed by

She emphasized that sustainability implies the long-term resilience of organizations through balancing the impact of business on society and the environment, as well as the impact of society and the environment on business itself.

    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;

          Following the formal addresses, the gathering continued in a relaxed and informal atmosphere over food and drinks, encouraging open dialogue and the exchange of experiences among participants. The Network’s work plan for the upcoming year was presented through visual infographics displayed throughout the venue, offering a modern and accessible way to communicate strategic priorities and maintaining a balance between an informal setting and substantive content.

           Godišnje okupljanje u Zagrebu okupilo je predstavnike državnih institucija, poslovnog sektora i medija u poticanju suradnje za integraciju održivosti u poslovne i društvene strategije.

          UN Global Compact mreža Hrvatske organizirala je svoje tradicionalno godišnje okupljanje u blagdanskom ambijentu restorana SquareOne u središtu Zagreba, koje je okupilo članove, nečlanove, partnere i predstavnike državnih institucija te medija. Cilj susreta bio je dodatno potaknuti dijalog o održivom poslovanju i unaprijediti suradnju među javnim i privatnim dionicima. 
         &#xD;

    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;

          UN Global Compact predstavlja najveću svjetsku inicijativu za korporativnu održivost i odgovorno poslovanje, koja je usklađena s Deset načela UN‑a o ljudskim pravima, radu, zaštiti okoliša i borbi protiv korupcije. Hrvatska mreža djeluje kao dio ove globalne zajednice i potiče tvrtke i organizacije da svoje poslovne modele usmjere prema održivosti te doprinesu ostvarivanju Ciljeva održivog razvoja UN‑a (SDG) u Hrvatskoj.

          , državni tajnik u Ministarstvu zaštite okoliša i zelene tranzicije, naglasio je odgovornost institucija u vođenju procesa zelene tranzicije, s posebnim osvrtom na smanjenje ugljičnog otiska i učinkovito korištenje dostupnih financijskih instrumenata.
         &#xD;

  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;

          , članica Upravnog odbora UN Global Compact mreže Hrvatske te ESG i Marketing direktorica u Fortenova grupi, naglasivši da održivost podrazumijeva dugoročni opstanak organizacija kroz balans između utjecaja poslovanja na društvo i okoliš i utjecaja društva i okoliša na poslovanje same organizacije.

  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    
          Nakon uvodnih obraćanja, susret je nastavljen u neformalnom tonu, uz hranu i piće, s ciljem poticanja otvorenog dijaloga i razmjene iskustava među sudionicima. Plan rada mreže za nadolazeću godinu predstavljen je kroz vizualne infografike postavljene u prostoru, kao suvremen i pristupačan način komunikacije strateških smjernica, čime je okupljanje zadržalo opušten, ali sadržajan karakter.
         &#xD;

    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

           Prošli mjesec Beč je bio domaćin šestog susreta EU Peer Learning Group on Climate, koji je okupio predstavnike poduzeća i mreža United Nations Global Compact-a iz čak 19 europskih zemalja – uključujući i Global Compact Network Croatia.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Cilj susreta bio je razmijeniti znanja, izazove i primjere dobre prakse u izradi i provedbi klimatskih tranzicijskih planova, usklađenih s europskim zakonodavstvom i međunarodnim standardima. Događaj je također poslužio kao platforma za jačanje suradnje među stručnjacima za održivost i klimatsku tranziciju u poslovnom sektoru.

    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
        
            Natural Capital Protocol (Capitals Coalition):
           &#xD;
      &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
          
             The Capitals Coalition is a framework for businesses to measure and value their impacts and dependencies on natural capital. This is particularly useful for organizations looking to integrate nature-related considerations into decision-making processes.
            &#xD;
        &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
        
            Global Reporting Initiative (GRI):
           &#xD;
      &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
          
             The GRI is a well-established sustainability reporting framework that includes specific disclosures on biodiversity and ecosystem impacts. The UN Global Compact references GRI in its Communication on Progress (CoP), making it a key tool for participants.
            &#xD;
        &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
        
            Science-Based Targets for Nature (SBTN):

             Unlike the aforementioned frameworks, the SBTN provides a methodology for setting measurable, science-based targets to align corporate actions with planetary boundaries. Kering, Holcim and GSK were the first companies to declare SBTNs, demonstrating corporate leadership in this space.

           6 March 2025, Singapore – The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) successfully convened the Executive Roundtable on Sustainable Finance – Driving Leadership in Sustainable Finance for a Resilient Future at the Orchard Hotel in Singapore today. This high-level gathering brought together CEOs, CFOs and institutional investors to mobilize private and institutional capital towards financing sustainable development, addressing biodiversity loss and closing the SDG financing gap in the Asia-Pacific region.

           March 20, 2025 – Ahead of World Water Day, the Water Resilience Coalition—a CEO-led initiative driving corporate action on water stress—announced the addition of two new members: Grundfos and Haleon. This expansion brings the Coalition’s membership to 40 leading companies, collectively representing a market capitalization exceeding US$5 trillion.

           About the Pacific Institute

           Founded in 1987, the Pacific Institute is a global water think tank that combines science-based thought leadership with active outreach to influence local, national, and international efforts in developing sustainable water policies.
